AS/EN 9100 series - Aerospace quality management

Ensure quality in all parts of your supply chain.

This is the globally recognized quality management series of standards for the aerospace sector, covering aviation, space and defense. Within these industries, safety is of the essence across the entire supply chain. Even the smallest of product or service flaws could have fatal outcomes.

Developed by the International Aerospace Quality Group (IAQG) the series consists of three standards:  AS/EN9100, AS/EN9110 and AS/EN9120.  All three standards are based on the ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems standard but adding requirements to address industry specific challenges.

What is the AS/EN 9100 series

AS/EN 9100 sets quality requirements for design, development, production, installation and servicing. Setting forth an industry-specific quality assurance model, it builds upon requirements to produce a globally harmonized standard that meets aerospace companies’ requirements worldwide. AS 9100 was the first standard available for use across the global aerospace community, providing requirements necessary to address both civil and military aviation and aerospace needs.

AS/EN 9110 provides requirements for maintenance, repair and overhaul of aerospace parts. Setting forth quality requirements specific to the industry, the standard meets the enhanced regulatory requirements to which aerospace repair stations are subjected.

AS/EN 9120 defines the requirements for quality assurance in warehousing and distribution of aerospace parts. The standard meets the enhanced regulatory requirements to which aerospace distributors are subjected. It applies to organizations that procure parts, materials and assemblies, and sell such products within the aerospace industry. This includes organizations that procure products split into smaller quantities before selling them. The AS/EN 9120 is not intended for organizations that rework or repair products. Organizations that perform work that affect or could affect product characteristics or conformity shall use AS/EN 9100 or another quality management system standard.

Benefits of becoming certified

Original equipment manufacturers (OEM) in the aerospace industry require AS/EN 9100 certification from its suppliers and subcontractors.  Certification to the AS/EN 9100 series standards demonstrates your ability to meet vital quality requirements and customer needs. Driving confidence in your own performance and trust toward customers and other stakeholders. Certification thus promotes continual quality and safety improvement, reduces and prevents errors, which leads to cost savings and competitive advantages.
