DNV approved to deliver Yum! supplier audit certification
To improve supply chain food safety and quality assurance, Yum! is requiring 3rd party certification to a GFSI recognized standards or entry level scheme from all suppliers.
“As an approved certification body, DNV is geared up to support Yum! brand suppliers with their third-party certification to recognized food safety schemes. A food safety system based on the GFSI benchmarked standards and schemes is essential to safeguard consumers and build stakeholder trust,” says Stefano Crea, Global Market & Industries Director in DNV.
According to Yum!’s timeline, the majority of its suppliers need to be certified by the end of 2024. For suppliers who are new to certification, this means starting now to understand the requirements, pick the most suitable standard or scheme, and prepare for certification. Yum! have approved a few certification bodies, among those DNV, to perform the certification audits.
“Certification to a food safety management system standard is not that different from what the suppliers already know. For those feeling less mature it may be opportune to start with the global markets entry level schemes and then gradually move to a full food safety standard,” says Stefano Crea.
DNV has a global network of auditors and assessors qualified for all the applicable food safety schemes and can support suppliers at all stages to achieve the necessary third-party certification.
