New requirements coming up – Utilize your management system smartly

On 1 September 2016, the PSC Concentrated Inspection Campaigns (CIC) started and, in January 2017, the Polar Code and amendments to MLC will enter into force. At the same time, the gradual implementation of the Manila amendments to STCW will have been completed. Extraordinary action needed to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals

New York, 19 September: Will the world achieve the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030? What can business do to lead the charge? DNV GL set out to answer these two critical questions in its new forecast examining the future of our ‘Spaceship Earth’. The report concludes that, while many of the goals will make good progress across several world regions, action will not be fast enough or fair enough and will come at an unacceptable environmental cost. From risk to opportunity: Turning the UN Sustainable Development Goals into local business initiatives

New report reveals: Business a key activist in turning global risks into opportunities

From all corners of the world, business leaders echo the same message: societal risks need urgent action. However, some of the most pressing risks – such as youth unemployment and the global food crisis – are also where leaders see the greatest business opportunities. Business also increasingly sees itself as a key global activist and is calling on governments to increase political will to address world risks. These findings and more are revealed in the 2016 Global Opportunity Report, released today by DNV GL, the United Nations Global Compact and Monday Morning Global Institute.
