DNV has a lot of experience relating to inspection and life cycle analysis of offshore structures. Based on this knowledge, Sesam Structure Integrity was developed; the first official version was released in 2005, and DNV Software has since then continuously invested huge efforts in enhancing its capabilities.

The solution is designed to manage the structural integrity of offshore assets through inspection management and anomaly recording. It is supported with built-in workflows supporting consistent and quality-based reporting and subsequent condition and integrity overviews that can be viewed at detail or aggregated levels. Colour code schemes are applied to easily communicate the overall condition of the asset, or to see to what extent work is executed according to set schedules.

Significant improvements
With the latest release of Sesam Structure Integrity, we have significantly improved on the overall functionality and introduced new tools.

The software capabilities are now:

• Asset repository including functional asset hierarchy and support of 3D view models
• Inspection management including generation or import of inspection programmes, planning, execution and reporting of yearly inspection campaigns supported extensively with various report templates, and reporting of all findings and anomalies
• Condition and asset integrity status shown at aggregated or detailed levels
• Ad-hoc reporting of findings not found as a result of the yearly inspection regime
• Brix Project Planner providing overview of various projects initiated
• Document repository
• Workflows supporting best practices as well as ensuring consistent and uniform reporting enabling excellent data quality
• Tailored reports according to the customer’s specifications and needs
• Administration tools providing user management and configuration options
• Import tool enabling bulk import of inspections and documents

Continued development
Even though the capabilities of the current version of Sesam Structure Integrity is excellent and greatly support the inspection management and asset integrity of offshore structures, we will continue to invest in adding new tools and function ality.

The biggest focus this year is to introduce the possibility of storing finite element analysis linked to change management. As a result, the operator can check and ensure that all relevant models are according to the as-is situation, and in case of an emergency the analyses can be quickly accessed and re-run to verify the structural reserve capacity.
