New contract of Aegean Marine Petroleum hits the 100 new-building vessels landmark for DNV

Athens: On the 18th of October, Aegean Marine Petroleum, signed a new contract for 7 double hull bunkering tankers of 6200 dwt, with Qingdao Hyundai Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. in China. The shipyard is majority owned by HHI, a world re-known yard for its quality shipbuilding.

All those newbuildings will be classed by DNV, a leading class society in tanker vessels. Upon completion of vessels construction, they will receive the class notation +1A1 Tanker for Oil, ESP, ECO, Tmon.

Those vessels together with the previously ordered bunker fleet will bring the total fleet of Aegean to 40 double hull bunkering tankers. Aegean’s fleet of bunker supply vessels will thus be one of the youngest and the largest fleet in its segment.

The above vessels together with all other vessels secured from Greek owners this year, will amount to 100 vessels ordered to DNV class.
