The European Commission has concluded its investigation without finding any breach of competition law.

The EU started an unexpected investigation into DNV as well as four other European class societies and the International Association of Class Societies (IACS) secretariat in London on 29 January 2008.

Now, more than 20 months later, the investigation has been concluded “without finding any possible infringement of competition law by IACS and its members.”

“We are of course pleased and relieved that the case has come to an end without imposing any fees or major changes to our way of conducting our work,” says Olav Nortun, the technical director of DNV Maritime.
