Statutory Certification

DNV operates a world-wide network of survey stations and is authorised by more than 120 flag administrations to carry out surveys and, in most cases, issue statutory certificates on their behalf.

For a ship to be classed by DNV it is assumed that

the statutory certificates of the applicable international conventions are valid at all times
the surveys prescribed in the conventions are carried out within the time frames prescribed

Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping for Seafarers - STCW-95
DNV has developed services for shipowners, maritime academies, maritime training centres, crew manning offices, and maritime administrations. DNV offers certification services, facilitation, and standard and customized training courses covering all aspects of the STCW-95 Convention. more

Communication systems
As a Radio Survey is a statutory service, delegated to DNV by the Flag State, the surveys are carried out on behalf of a particular government. more

New IMO Requirements
The 12th edition of DNV's Information Note No.9 New IMO Requirements - Present and Future Amendments is available for downloading. The January 2006 will be distributed to shipowners and yards via the local DNV stations. It may also be downloaded here. more
