Project Certification

Owners, investors, and insurance companies need someone to establish a higher standard to ensure the wind farm's performance and protect their investments. This also creates a need for third party that can verify that the wind farm can meet the requirements throughout its life time. Project certification is an increased certification scope developed by DNV to satisfy this growing need.

Additionally, project certification may be required by investors or insurance companies in the form of a clause describing the impact of project certification on insurance or as part of the national certification scheme

On these Project Certification pages, we will help you understand the what and why of Project Certification - what it is and why your project will benefit from undergoing one.

Partner with DNV for:

  • Certification of your offshore wind farms conducted according to the DNV offshore standard “Design of Offshore Wind Turbine Structures". The scope includes all the critical phases of an offshore wind farm project, including verification of site specific conditions, manufacturing survey, warranty and marine verification, survey during assembly, installation and periodical in-service inspections. Third part verification is usually required by authorities, and insurance- and finance companies.

  • Certification of your onshore wind farms conducted according to "Guidelines for Design of Wind Turbines" and "DNV Guideline for Certification of Wind Turbine Power Plants, 1992". The scope includes the relevant phases from offshore certification. Third party verification is usually required by authorities, and insurance- and finance companies.

The road to certification will help you prepare for the Offshore Project Certification scheme.

DNV offers certification worldwide, and holds a wide range of national accreditations. With our global network of local resources, we can provide you with the certification most suitable to your needs and company location.
