Background
This book presents decision analysis theory and practical applications from European Industry: modelling decisions, associated failure probabilities, loss or utility functions, and multi-attribute utility functions, the use of specific tools as the decision tree, the belief network and the influence diagram, and industrial application cases.

ESReDA
The handbook has been written by several European experts belonging to the "Decision Analysis Working Group" of the European Safety Reliability & Data Association (ESReDA). ESReDA is a European Association established in 1992 to promote research, application and training in Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety (RAMS). The Association provides a forum for the exchange of information, data and current research on Safety and Reliability and a focus for specialist expertise. The results of ESReDA research programme are regularly presented during two annual seminars, and by publications of Project Groups reports.

ESReDA is oriented to the needs of the RAMS practitioner and believes that this can best be carried out through sharing experience about RAMS practice and theory. This book aims to share the experience of the working group members in the practice and theory of decision analysis in the context of Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety.
