Avinor: Safely reducing costs
As part of the cost cutting programme "Take-Off-05", Avinor commissioned DNV Consulting to conduct an independent evaluation of the consequences to flight safety and to the health and safety of their employees.
Critical issues: - In line with several other players in the aviation industry, Avinor identified a need for cutting costs. "Take-off-05" – Avinor’s cost-cutting programme, reviews the entire organisation with the aim of reducing cost without compromising safety
- "Take-Off-05" was organised through 11 subprojects with topics ranging from the overall organisation of Avinor to specific details on fire and rescue services, Area Control Centres and control tower operations
Solutions: - DNV evaluated most of the 11 projects, with special emphasis on those impacting directly on the operational aspects of the business
- We identified possible hazards relevant to the introduction of the different cost-cutting measures
- The resulting hypothesises on possible consequences were tested on the organisation through extensive use of workshops
Value delivered: - By providing a truly independent evaluation, DNV presented Avinor with a sound foundation for making decisions on the implementation of the different cost cutting measures in "Take-Off-05"
- The involvement of large parts of the Avinor organisation in the DNV project was in itself an important part of the change management process within Avinor
