Securing the industry against terrorism

There is growing awareness that industry may well become the future target for terrorists to inflict casualties and economic damage. We can help you identify and reduce your organisation’s vulnerability to terrorism.

Protection against terrorism requires the implementation of security plans and measures. However, the development of effective security plans demands insight into both the possible terrorist attack scenarios and the associated vulnerable elements of the organisation. This insight allows the organisation to focus their security plans on those elements most vulnerable to attack while striking a balance between preventive measures and contingency response.

Using a risk based security approach, DNV has supported a leading European industrial organisation with the identification of their critical scenarios and vulnerabilities for a number of their installations. Together with the client DNV identified for each installation:

  • Relevant attack methods as basis for the scenarios;
  • Consequences of the attacks on the installation;
  • Assessment of the scenarios on the vulnerability of the installation to the attack and the consequences of the attack;
  • Root causes for the scenarios;
  • Measures for the most critical scenarios

The value delivered to the client:

  • Identification of the most critical attack scenarios for the selected installations;
  • Recommendations for reducing their vulnerability
