From a safety perspective, the proposed terminals were assessed regarding the potential consequences of leaks and exposure to nearby villages and surroundings. In addition, DNV reviewed environmental concerns, such as the terminals’ impact on marine life, birds and plants in the area.
In several locations around the world, offshore-based terminals are being preferred for their reduced environmental impacts and quicker governmental approval process. GASCAN will move forward with the proposed land-based terminals.
