His work experience included periods in South Africa, Ireland and the UK. He then worked for over eight years with SGS, latterly specialising in quality, safety and environmental auditing. By the time he joined DNV Certification in 1996 he was already a very experienced integrated Lead Auditor.
During his time with DNV Certification, Dave further developed the integrated management systems certification market for DNV, and undertook a wide range of audits in the UK and overseas. He was well respected within his field, and in great demand from clients, who appreciated his quiet and committed approach to audits, and the high level of knowledge and experience he provided to them.
In addition to his auditing work, Dave was very active in writing articles and papers for several environmental, safety and quality journals.
His sudden and untimely death during a business trip to South America has been keenly felt by a great many colleagues and clients in the integrated management system field. The large number of messages of condolence and appreciation received is a mark of the high regard in which he was held, and he will be greatly missed by friends, colleagues and clients.
