DNV employees cycle in aid of Barnardos

Helena Pangalos and Amy Pettit have signed up to complete the Rajasthan Tiger Bike Ride Expedition in February 2006 in aid of Barnardos. The challenge involves cycling 500km in 6 days!

The aim of the challenge is to raise a minimum of £5100 for charity. Their chosen charity, Barnardos, offers vital support across the UK. An example of some of the work they do includes running parenting courses, family centers, offering short breaks and services for disabled children, supporting families facing illness or bereavement and helping young carers who look after an ill family member.

Amy says of the challenge ‘Not all children in the UK are born into the happy and privileged lives that most of us take for granted. Barnardos offer vulnerable children the support and care they need and deserve to give them the best chance in life. The work Barnardos does for children in the UK is vital and they rely wholly on volunteers to survive. Helena and I want to raise as much money for Barnardo’s as possible. So far we have raised £2600 but we still have a long way to go.’

Thank you so much to those of you who have sponsored this event already:

If you would like to make a donation this event is being sponsored by DNV and any company that donates £200 or more will be named on the DNV Certification web site and in our newsletter after the challenge. This will mean that not only are you helping towards a really worthwhile cause but you will receive some excellent profiling at the same time.

Barnardos was formed over 130 years ago by one man, committed to make a difference to children’s lives, but it is a sad fact that there are still many disadvantaged kids in the UK and Barnardos is reliant upon sponsorship to survive. Through individuals donating time or money, through events or personal challenges, they are able to protect the innocent and vulnerable members of our society and offer them the chance of a future.

Thank you in advance for your contributions towards this vital cause.
