Road to Verification

To obtain verified emissions reduction units from a JI project, you have to follow certain steps as required by the Kyoto Protocol and Marrakech Accord.

What steps should I follow?

  1. Document the project design
You must prepare a project design document that includes:
" General description of project activity
" Baseline methodology and calculations of GHG emissions
    " Monitoring methodology and plan
    " Environmental impacts analysis
  2. Implement the project
After the determination or host country acceptance of your project, you can proceed to implement the project and start operations.
  3. Implement a monitoring scheme
Implement the monitoring plan and calculate the emission reductions as the difference between actual monitored emissions and the baseline emissions. The results should be summarised in a monitoring report.
  4. Verification of monitoring report
Submit monitoring report to the designated operating entity together with the project design document, and other relevant documentation for verification and determination of the emissions reduction or removals that may be issued as emission reduction units (ERU).
