The verification is carried out by an accredited operating entity, i.e. a third party verifier.
The verification typically includes a review and assessment of baseline calculations, monitoring results and data collection, performance records, interviews with project participants and stakeholders, and assessment of established practices and accuracy of data collected and monitoring equipment.
Projects started in the year 2000 or later may be listed as JI projects. However, emission reduction units (ERU) may only be issued after 2008.
