The EBtrust service benefits companies whether small or large, established or just beginning, in the world of eBusiness. Developed by DNV, our EBtrust standard is used to perform an independent assessment of your eBusiness Management System. The assessment is performed against a set of criteria described in our eBusiness standard. The standard's requirements measure your organisation's capability to run an eBusiness on a global basis.
Elements of the standard
Instead of concentrating on limited aspects of running an eBusiness website, such as usability, ease of navigation, or transaction security, DNV's EBtrust standard analyses the eBusiness company in its entirety. The analysis takes into account the nature of the companys business, its complexity, and its life cycle maturity.
In addition to a set of mandatory general requirements, there are five modules of our eBusiness model against which a company may elect to be assessed:
- ethics
- infrastructure
- security
- processes and organisation
- web marketing
You can download a copy of the EBtrust version 2.0 Standard under "related info" on the right.
A visit behind the scenes
The EBtrust standard is based on a flexible model with modules that can take into account the values and characteristics of the individual company. We will physically visit your business to assess that your eBusiness Management System meets the requirements of the eBusiness standard. The eBusiness standard includes processes related to order, production, and delivery, but does not include the quality of the products and services itself.
When a company complies with the applicable criteria, the EBtrust mark is awarded and the company becomes a Trusted Company. The EBtrust mark can be prominently displayed on your website. When clicking on the EBtrust mark, customers will be sent to a secure DNV server. There they can read about the company, the certification scheme, and our verification of that particular company.
Continual improvement
Our eBusiness standard invokes trust and confidence because we actually verify and regularly follow up that a company:
- Has appropriate policies and work procedures.
- Follows these in their daily operations.
- Monitors and reviews them with the objective of performing reliable eBusiness.
Where do I go from here?
For third party certification, you need to implement an effective eBusiness Management System complying with the requirements of the Standard. The first step is to get on the road to certification.
