The focus of the two-year program is to develop technical skills and is made up of three 8 month placements, with one or two periods in a different country. The experience abroad offers the opportunity to quickly build a large and useful network within DNV.
Jonathan’s placements have been in the Pipelines Section in Aberdeen, the Wind Energy Department in Copenhagen and finally the Arctic Operations and Technology department in Oslo.
“I am now participating in several projects related to operations in the Arctic where one of the main challenges is to develop new methods for calculating ice loads on various forms of offshore structures,” Jonathan explains.
He has a positive view on further development. “One thing I have learned from the trainee program is that any experience and knowledge I have gained may be applied to lots of other assignments,” Jonathan states. “As long as I keep my eyes and my mind open, there will be opportunities to work on a huge range of interesting and challenging projects.”
